Following Your eIRB+ Submission

The eIRB+ system uses “states” to classify where a submission is in the process. You can see a diagram showing the state of your study within the IRB review process by opening the study. For example:

The following table defines all possible study states for a new study submission during the course of its review.

Notes

Pre-submission The application is under preparation by the PI/submission preparer.  If the PI does not click "Submit Study", the study will remain in this state.
Clarifications Requested (Pre-Review) The IRB Coordinator has requested changes or clarification.  The PI and Primary Contact will receive an e-mail notification advising them of the request.
Pre-Review Completed (Convened Review) The submission is awaiting assignment to an IRB panel for review.
Pre-Review Completed (Expedited or Exempt Review) The submission is awaiting assignment to a Designated IRB member for review.
Non-Committee Review The submission is being reviewed by an IRB member.
Committee Review The submission is awaiting assignment to an IRB panel for review, or the submission has been assigned to a panel meeting and is being reviewed by IRB panel members.
Clarification Requested (Designated Review) The IRB member has requested changes or clarifications regarding the submission under review.
Clarifications Requested (Committee Review) The IRB Panel has requested changes or clarifications.  The PI and Primary Contact will receive an e-email notification advising them of the request.
Modifications Required The IRB panel gave a Pending status.  The PI and submission preparer will receive an e-mail notification advising them of the request.
Post Review The IRB letter advising the PI of the panel’s or IRB member’s decision is being prepared.
