As a part of the Northwestern University IRB Office’s initiative to share timely resources and information with the research community, a new guidance document was published this month:

Research Document Retention Requirements for Principal Investigators (HRP-1914) was published this month.

• This guidance contains PI responsibilities, requirements, and guidelines for research document retention including research records/study files, research data/source documentation, consent forms, HIPAA authorizations, and more.

The website should be your first source for all documents. It is recommended to refrain from saving frequently used documents and to always access them from the website.
