The New eIRB+ Compliance Workspace
April 7, 2025
The IRB Office is proud to launch the new eIRB+ Compliance Workspace, effective April 7th, 2025.
The new Workspace enables IRB Compliance activities to shift from dependence on email, paper-based tools, and manual tracking. Instead, it modernizes the compliance processes by introducing a separate dedicated workspace within the electronic IRB submission system, eIRB+. Through our partnership and collaboration with Research Information Technology (RIT), we designed the eIRB+ Compliance Workspace, which provides a platform for post-approval monitoring (PAM) and other IRB Compliance activities, allowing for more streamlined and efficient processes.
To access the eIRB+ Compliance Workspace, researchers and their study teams can simply log into eIRB+ as usual. They should then navigate to the new ‘Compliance’ tab located on the right side of the purple navigation bar at the top of the page to access the Workspace and its features. Currently, the Compliance Unit requires you to take action in the Workspace only if you receive a notification that your study has been selected to undergo routine post-approval monitoring. IRB submission and review processes remain unchanged as separate activities within eIRB+.
The Compliance Unit will gradually shift all routine monitoring activities into the Workspace to ensure a smooth and seamless changeover, allowing users time to become familiar with the new system. With the launch, the new eIRB+ Compliance Workspace webpage is now live, where the research community can access training tutorials for the eIRB+ Compliance Workspace. To coincide with the release, we invite you to revisit the November 2024 Brown Bag presentation recording titled “Streamlining Compliance: The New eIRB+ Compliance Workspace.” The presentation covered the features of the eIRB+ Compliance Workspace, the post-approval monitoring process within the system, and other components that will be phased into it over time.

On behalf of the IRB Office, we would like to acknowledge and extend our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the departments participating in the pilot activities for the launch of the new eIRB+ Compliance Workspace. Their support, time, and expertise have been crucial to ensuring the success of this project, and we are deeply grateful for their contributions.
