IRB Bulletin: News from the IRB Office (December 2022)

Greetings!

As a part of the Northwestern University IRB Office’s initiative to share timely resources and information with the research community, the IRB Bulletin is released at the beginning of each month and contains relevant updates from the IRB office.  The IRB Bulletin is also posted monthly on the IRB News & Announcements webpage. Please keep reading for this month’s updates.    

 IRB Office Annual Open House 

You're invited to the 2022 IRB Office Annual Winter Open House on December 14th! This year's event will be held in person and is sure to be a great time for all! Please stop by to say hi and enjoy refreshments. Jeopardy begins at 12:15pm and prizes will be awarded. More information is available in the attached flyer and we hope to see you there.  Staff Announcements 

We are pleased to share the following IRB Office staff announcements:

Liberty (“Libby”) Stouffer, joined the growing Northwestern University IRB Office as an IRB Analyst with the Biomedical team.  Previously, Libby worked for 3.5 years as an IRB Analyst for the University of Chicago Social and Behavioral Sciences IRB reviewing submissions and serving as an alternate IRB panel member.  Libby also worked at the Becker Friedman Institute for Economics, and Booth School of Business, at the University of Chicago. Libby holds a Masters in Higher Education Administration from North Park University and a Bachelor of Arts in Gender and Women’s Studies from the University of Illinois at Chicago. As an IRB Analyst, Libby will provide oversight of the daily operational activities of the Biomedical IRB panels.   

Mila DeMarte, joined the growing Northwestern University IRB Office as an IRB Analyst with the Biomedical team. Previously, Mila worked in the Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine’s Gastroenterology department as a Clinical Research Coordinator and as the lead for clinical trials research operations on 17 active industry trials in Inflammatory Bowel Disease. Mila was also responsible for recruiting participants in the role of Research Enrollment Coordinator II for two years for Massachusetts General Hospital/Newton Wellesley Hospital. Mila holds a Bachelor of Science, Health Science, from Boston University. As an IRB Analyst, Mila will provide oversight of the daily operational activities of the Biomedical IRB panels.
